QTS, Blackstone's data center arm, filed a last-minute appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court challenging a ruling that blocked the 2,100-acre PW Digital Gateway rezoning in Prince William County, VA. QTS plans to build 7.9M SF of data centers on an 812-acre portion of the site. Co-developer Compass Datacenters declined to appeal, and the county Board of Supervisors dropped its legal defense. The rezoning was originally approved in 2023 but struck down by a circuit court in August and affirmed by the appeals court in March 2025. Opposition groups including the American Battlefield Trust cite historic preservation concerns near Manassas National Battlefield Park.
