NUAI announced a 450 MW behind-the-meter generation project at its Texas Critical Data Center campus in the Permian Basin, developed in partnership with Thunderhead Energy Solutions and Turbine-X Energy. The project encompasses 450 MW of initial capacity on a 438-acre site with a master-planned total of over 1 GW, positioning this as one of the largest vertically integrated power-generation data center campuses in North America. The project is in announcement stage with engineering and procurement underway, with construction and commissioning expected to follow subject to financing and regulatory approval. This initiative is notable because it decouples data center power supply from regional grid constraints, directly addressing power availability as the primary bottleneck for AI and HPC expansion while protecting public utility ratepayers.
