Unknown StageArticle
Bonner, Montana, MT

Krambu, a small company founded in 2017 and based near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, has submitted an application to build a new data center in Bonner, Montana, with a public comment period currently underway. Krambu already owns and operates a data center near Newport, Washington that it built around 2020, making this its second known facility. The project is in the early planning/permitting stage. This represents a relatively small, regional operator expanding into a new state, which could present opportunities for infrastructure vendors, power providers, and construction firms serving the rural Pacific Northwest/Mountain West data center market. Given the public comment period is ongoing, engagement should be timely as permitting decisions may come in the near term.

Pre-PermitArticle
Bonner, Montana, MT

Idaho-based Krambu has announced plans to build an AI data center at the former Bonner mill site near Missoula, Montana. Phase 1 would require approximately 1 MW of power. The project needs a special zoning exemption from Missoula County's Consolidated Land Use Board due to its proximity within 500 feet of a residential area. County policy requires any such facility to purchase or develop enough new renewable energy to offset 100% of its electrical consumption. Northwestern Energy has filed with the Montana Public Service Commission for approval of terms to serve Montana's growing data center proposals.
